Art in Nature: Dance for Camera
celebrating 31 years!
Idaho Dance Theatre is celebrating 31 years of creation, innovation, community and collaboration!
Fall is coming and Idaho Dance Theatre is gearing up for our 31st Season! We have some very special events planned.
Our first one will be “Art in Nature: Dance for Camera”
Sunday, September 22nd, at 3:00 pm
Located at the Gem Center for the Arts 2417 Bank Dr. in Boise, located just off Vista.
This will the first full showing of three dance films that we shot in the diverse landscapes of Idaho: the Sawthooth Mountains, Bruneau Sand Dunes and City of Rocks. This amazing project was sponsored by the Boise State School of the Arts. Collaborators includes Director and Film Professor, Rulon Wood, Composer and Music Professor, Eric Scott Alexander, Choreographer, IDT Artistic Director and Theatre Professor, Marla Hansen, and Idaho Dance Theatre dancers: Kylie Dimick, Yurek Hansen, Rafael Ibanez, Taylor Munson and Gonzalo Valdez. After the film showing there will be a talk back with the artists and production team, giving insight into how these films are created. Through an arduous yet very fun process of many different film takes, costume changes, and adjustments of choreography dealing with the real elements of dirt, rocks, cold water, pine cones, thorns, etc! we were able to create a mystical experience.
